Display dashboards full-screen on office TVs, reception screens, and meeting room displays.
Overview
TV Mode turns any dashboard into a full-screen presentation – perfect for wall-mounted TVs in sales floors, warehouses, reception areas, and meeting rooms. The dashboard fills the entire screen with no Odoo menus or buttons visible. If you have multiple dashboards, TV Mode can rotate between them automatically like a slideshow.
How It Works
When you activate TV Mode, the dashboard expands to fill the entire browser window. Combined with Auto Refresh (from the previous chapter), data stays up to date without anyone touching the screen. The TV Slide Interval setting controls how long each dashboard is shown before switching to the next one in the rotation.
Step-by-Step Guide
Prepare Your Dashboard
- Make sure the dashboard looks good at full screen. Use larger widget sizes (Width 6–12) and a Dark or Gradient background for wall displays.
Enable Auto Refresh
- On the dashboard form, set Auto Refresh to 1–5 minutes so data updates automatically.
Set TV Slide Interval
- If rotating multiple dashboards, set the interval (default: 8 seconds). This is how long each dashboard shows before switching.
Open the Dashboard
- Go to Overview and click Open Dashboard.
Activate TV Mode
- Click the TV Mode button (monitor icon) in the dashboard toolbar. The view goes full-screen.
Connect to a TV
- Connect a computer or media player to your TV via HDMI. Open the dashboard in the browser and activate TV Mode. Leave it running.
Exit TV Mode
- Press the Escape key or click the exit button to return to normal view.

Field Explanations
TV Mode Button
Found on the live dashboard toolbar. One click hides all Odoo menus and fills the screen with your dashboard. Ideal for wall-mounted displays.
TV Slide Interval
When multiple dashboards are in rotation, this controls the pause between slides. 8 seconds works well for KPI-heavy dashboards; use 15–30 seconds for chart-heavy ones.
Auto Refresh
Essential for TV mode – without it, the numbers on screen become stale. Set to 1–5 minutes for most wallboard use cases.
Background Theme
Dark and Gradient themes reduce eye strain on large screens and look more professional on wallboards.
Default Date Filter
Set to “Today” for operational screens (warehouse, sales floor) or “This Month” for management overview screens.
Tips
- Use a dedicated computer or Raspberry Pi connected to the TV – not someone’s work laptop.
- Dark Theme with large KPI tiles is the most readable combination for wall displays.
- Set the browser to full-screen (F11) in addition to TV Mode for a truly borderless display.
- Create a dedicated “Wallboard” user account with only the dashboards that TV should show.
- Combine TV Mode with Auto Refresh for a zero-maintenance live display.
Common Mistakes
- Using Light Theme on a bright TV in a sunny room – numbers become hard to read. Switch to Dark Theme.
- Widgets too small for TV viewing – use Width 6 or larger and Height 2+ for wall displays.
- Forgetting Auto Refresh – the TV shows stale numbers within minutes. Always enable refresh for wallboards.
- Not logging in as a dedicated user – using a personal account risks showing private data if the screensaver activates.
