Turn the app on for your team: install, assign roles, and open the same eTimeOffice settings from two familiar places in Odoo.
Overview
If you have not yet copied the add-on onto the server and pressed Install inside Odoo, start with the chapter Setup eTimeOffice first. Once the app is installed, nothing useful appears until the right people have access and someone enters your company’s eTimeOffice login. This page is the checklist HR and IT walk through on that first working day so nobody gets stuck looking for menus or blank screens.
How it works
Odoo hides the whole eTimeOffice menu from people who are not in the module’s security groups. The settings you need (Corporate ID, password, sync frequency) live on the main Settings screen inside an eTimeOffice block-the same values you would set if you used the menu eTimeOffice → Configuration → Settings. Both paths open the same form, so you can follow whichever your administrator prefers.
Step-by-step guide
- Confirm the app is installed: you should see an eTimeOffice top-level menu once you have the right access (see next steps).
- Ask your Odoo administrator to open Settings → Users, pick each person who will manage the integration, and add the group eTimeOffice Administrator. These users also need normal HR access appropriate to your company policy.
- For staff who should only see their own imported hours, add the group eTimeOffice User and make sure their login is linked to an Employee record in Odoo.
- Sign in as an administrator. Go to Settings (the main Odoo settings app), scroll to the eTimeOffice section, and enter your credentials-or use eTimeOffice → Configuration → Settings from the menu.
- Turn Active on, save, then use Test Connection before relying on automatic sync.

Field explanations
eTimeOffice Administrator (access group)
Use sparingly; these people can see and change the API password, run sync, open logs, and manage user links for the whole company.
eTimeOffice User (access group)
Read-focused access so someone can open My Attendance for their own employee only. Always pair it with a linked employee record or the menu will look empty.
eTimeOffice block on Settings
The same credential and frequency form as the eTimeOffice menu shortcut, but reached through the main Odoo Settings app (gear icon). Handy when trainers already teach “everything lives under Settings.”
eTimeOffice → Configuration → Settings
A direct menu path to that identical form once the eTimeOffice app is visible. Use whichever route your runbook standardises on.
Tip: Before announcing go-live, have one administrator complete a manual sync for a single day and confirm rows appear under Attendance Records. That proves groups, credentials, and network are all aligned.
Common mistakes
- Installing the app but forgetting to assign eTimeOffice Administrator-users then say “I don’t see eTimeOffice anywhere.”
- Adding eTimeOffice User to someone who has no employee link; their My Attendance list stays empty.
