Gemstone Attributes manage the filter options that customers see when browsing gemstones in the builder – the shapes, stone types, colors, and quality grades available to choose from. These are separate from Diamond Attributes and tailored to the unique properties of colored gemstones.

How Gemstone Attributes Differ from Diamond Attributes
Diamond attributes focus on the structured GIA grading system (D–Z color, IF–I3 clarity). Gemstone attributes are more varied because colored gemstones come in dozens of types – a Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald each have their own color language. Gemstone filters in the builder are tailored to let customers find stones by type, color, shape, and size range.
Common Gemstone Filter Attributes

How to Manage Gemstone Attribute Terms
The process for managing gemstone attribute terms is identical to managing diamond attribute terms.
Go to Jewelry Builder → Gemstone Attributes
The page lists all gemstone attribute groups.
Click an attribute to manage its terms
For example, click “Stone Type” to see all the stone type options you have set up (Ruby, Sapphire, etc.).
Add new terms as needed
If you start stocking a new stone type (e.g., Alexandrite) that you don’t have a term for yet, add it here. Enter the Name, and optionally upload an image. Click “Add.”
Upload images for Shape terms
Just like diamond shapes, gemstone shapes display better with a visual icon. Upload an SVG or PNG icon for each shape term so customers can see what shape they’re selecting.
Remove terms you don't stock
If you don’t carry any Opals, you don’t need an “Opal” term. Removing unused terms makes the filter cleaner and easier for customers to use.
Tips for Gemstone Attributes
- Only add Stone Type terms for stones you actually stock. An empty filter option frustrates customers – if they filter for “Alexandrite” and get zero results, that’s a poor experience.
- Add color terms that match exactly what’s in your gemstone records. If your records use “Blue” and your attribute term is “Dark Blue,” the filter won’t connect them properly.
- Group less common colors into broader categories (e.g., “Violet-Blue” can fit under “Blue”) to keep the filter concise.
- Do not delete attribute terms that are assigned to gemstone records in your catalog – doing so will remove those stones from the filtered results.
